The Blog O' The Week #7

I have been busy making up some garden plans for our yard.  We got rid of a lot of old overgrown bushes last year and didn't replace them with anything other than black gardening tarp and lots and lots of least I have a very clean palette to work with.  So this year after the new roof is put on (hopefully soon) and as soon as it warms up...I plan to landscape the front and back yard and add some color to our very plain surroundings.

In my search over the internet I have found some wonderful blogs that have assisted me with my plans.  One of my very favorites is this one:

(this isn't my garden plan, but just a picture from her site)

I know it is cold and snowy in many parts of this world right now, but the thought of gardening brings a smile to my face and to have some plans in  my hands really help me to look forward to warmer days ahead.  I do love to get my hands in the dirt!  I hope this blog will help you to plan for your garden as well.  So go on over and visit Doris.  I know you will get a lot of great tips from her blog.

Please share...what gardening blogs to you enjoy?

Antique Flour Sack Pillow

Recently I found this flour sack in our local antique store and snatched it right up.  I really liked the horse on the front as well as the feel of the
soft cloth.  It just said "make me into a pillow".

So, I brought it home...and stuck in a feather pillow from the closet and stitched up the top.  The rugged frayed top hid my hand stitching pretty well.

Not sure if it will stay here or go somewhere else.
What do you think?

I'm linking up to these fun parties:

I am back from my 40th Birthday celebration and have to tell you all that there is nothing better for a woman's soul than a GIRL'S trip!  As some of you know, my husband surprised me just before Christmas with the news that I would be travelling with some of my friends on a cruise to Mexico.  We had a wonderful time...truly, we had too good a time if that is even possible.  It is always good to be home, but looking back through my pictures and those of my friends, I can't help but smile and giggle over the memories that were created.  Laughter and silliness should never be removed from our lives and I had forgotten how good it felt to just relax and be silly!  Our husbands would have been mortified! lol  But don't worry, we didn't do anything that I couldn't repeat.

Here are a few pictures of our trip...

It rained for a few minutes while we were on the beach...
but that didn't slow us down for long...

There is nothing like smothering your feet in warm, wet sand.

This little guy stayed close by and was our entertainment for the afternoon.

Our view from the back of the ship while sunbathing...all I could think about when I looked out was that this world of ours is pretty large...

Wow! What a wonderful trip!

I hope you have a lovely weekend.  I will try to get back to all of you who have left messages over the past couple of weeks very soon!

Blog O' The Week #6

One of my favorite blogs to check in on lately is

Katy's blog:

She is a very independent Mom of 3 children, a mechanical engineer and a single mother who is VERY talented.  She is amazing.  She has remodeled her own home and has just purchased a beach property that she is demolishing and is going to rebuild/renovate a new house...yep, you heard me right.

So what are you waiting for?

Here's a little teaser pic:

I'll be back soon!
