How do you feel about BENCH SWINGS?

I have always wanted a bench swing...always, always, always.  When we moved to the Lakeshore Cottage I realized that there was a perfect place for one!  Not on a front porch but here instead!

The perfect branch...nice and sturdy and horizontal...

So after getting the swing hung, I thought it was the perfect time to give it a coat of red paint to brighten it up...the same color as the front door and the lantern hanging by the front door (pictured below).

I found these burlap sacks at our local antique store. I purchased both of them for $14.00.  I filled the Planters sack with plastic grocery bags and "sewed" the top with some ribbon.   For the Pinto Bean sack, I simply folded down the top and fastened each side with the same ribbon.  I also filled it with plastic bags.  It was a fun, inexpensive and easy project. If I choose to use the bags diferently in the future, I can simply remove the plastic bag stuffing and try something else with them.  The little pumpkin was something that I won at a Christian Women's Luncheon a few years back.  Isn't it cute?

The black and white wool blanket came out of my closet and I have had it for so many years, I don't even remember where it is from...but I have always loved it!

There is nothing better than a lazy fall day spent swinging back and forth beneath a huge old tree! Love how you styled your bench swing. We have one under a big old oak tree behind our barn that we call our "Prayer Swing". It's where hubby and I go alone once in while to commune with God and nature. :)

The first thing I'd do is take everything off the swing so I could sit there instead and rock gently back and forth in the shade!

DARLING, SCARLET LADYBUG

Darling, scarlet ladybug,
On the prowl for bugs and such,
If I met you on the rug,
I would not be frightened (much).
