Formal Living Room Reveal: Before and After

***Lots of Pictures...sorry if it is slow to upload.***

Hello!  I just want to say thank you again for all of the very sweet and encouraging comments that so many of you have left for me regarding the renovations so far.  It really has brought so many smiles to my face...you just have no idea.  This week, I have been working hard on the formal living room trying to get it completed and I still have a few finishing touches to make but wanted to go ahead and share it with you.  I will post the final pictures another day.   Let's just say this room has gone through a transformation.  I didn't think I would ever want to sit in this room when we toured it initially with the realtor and now it is truly my favorite place to go for a quiet moment.  I still need to do some decorating and hang some pictures...you know "accessorize" the walls...but that will be another post ;) so here it is for now.  I spent a long time arranging the shelves...do you do that?  I moved things around over and over and over...same with the mantle.  My husband kept saying.."that looks good, leave it alone" and then, I would change it...sigh.
Ok, enough chit chat..let's get down to the pics!

MLS Pictures:

I can't believe we didn't get any pics of this room at closing.  Basically all of the furniture was gone thank goodness.  There were large bags of trash everywhere...and trash all over the floor...cat hair and more cat hair and cat smell.  It was reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally bad.  I cried.

Here it is during the renovation process after we cleaned out all of the trash:

And here it is TODAY:

Wall paint is Sherwin Williams Samovar Silver
Trim Paint is Sherwin Williams Shoji White

No more ugly broken bricks...new stone...yahoooo!
the view from the large windows...
These pillow covers are from Pottery Barn...they are on sale right now although unfortunately they weren't when I purchased them : ( but you can get them for a deal right now!  The colors matched perfectly.

It looks great, Kristine! It's so sad that people would leave a house that way for the new owners. I'd probably cry too, but mainly because I'm allergic to cats! It does have good bones, so thankfully you had a nice foundation to work with. Love the color and I think you did a great job. I would love those built-ins!

Beautiful remodel. I also used the same paint color in my family room several months ago. Samovar Silver could be my new favorite color. It's in the downstairs bathroom, entry niche, and if I'm not careful, it might make it's way upstairs. Your room looks amazing.

Hi Kristine, I just found your blog today at the Strut Your Stuff party. Your living room redo is amazing! The thing that had the most impact was replacing the brick fireplace surround with stone. Your entire mantel display is gorgeous. I am a new follower and I'd love it if you visited me and followed me as well.

P.S. You might want to double check your link up at our party...it seemed to be having a problem but that might just have been on my end. Thought I would let you know! :-)

Oh it's so beautiful!!! Wow what a difference; the before was really pretty awful!;) I LOVE how you accessorized your shelves; they look beautiful. I do the same, arrange and rearrange, and meanwhile my husband is baffled because he thought it looked fine five arrangements ago. {men will never understand...}
Great job!! I'm sure you're enjoying your gorgeous room!!

We have bought more than one house that I cried about. In fact, our current home is the first "nearly new" one that we have owned and one that we didn't have to do things to make livable.

Your room is beautiful. I love the colors, the carpeting is a great color...what is the texture? I can certainly see why you love it now...and that view? Perfection!
