It is all coming together quickly.

I made it over to the house today to get a few new shots.  The floors have been sanded and finished and they will buff them again and apply the last coat just before we move in mid-February.  The cabinets have all been set and there is a little trim-work needed.  The painters and carpenters should be back soon to get that done.  Carpet will be laid tomorrow in the basement and next week upstairs and the granite and appliances arrive next week.  The electricians are still working on all of the lighting.  Many of the plugs and switches had to be replaced.  The chandeliers should be hung today in the kitchen and dining room.  The curtain rods arrived yesterday and so did some new pillow covers from Pottery Barn.  The faucets have been purchased and the glass company will come out later this week to do some measurements for the showers.   It is all coming together.
I shot a few quick shots while  there today.

I thought I would show the completed fireplace mantel.  Didn’t the floors turn out beautifully?  We still have to decide what to do with the fireplace screens and fireplaces and we may not mess too much with those until spring or even summer time.  We will of course clean them out soon and probably discard the brass doors.
All of the natural light makes me giddy.
I would love to show you more pictures but will probably not for a while because I want the next pictures to be the finished product.  So sit tight for a bit and be sure to check back.  We will move in mid-February.  Make sure you click on the FOLLOW button so you don’t miss out!

Oh I am so glad to see someone use a dark stain on their cabinets. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the white, but even with teens it would be tough to keep clean in my house. What color did you paint your kitchen walls, it looks so complimentary to your cabinets.
I found you from BTB party and am now a follower.

i love your decorating style -- the fireplace and mantel look INCREDIBLE... i am sure you can't wait to snuggle up and have a cozy night right in front of that!!! totally great! your contractors are amazing and so fast!! moving in is going to be something special for you all! what a really cool thing!! we live on the water now and LOVE IT and i am sad to say we are moving OUT in mid-february -- we have a 750 SF bungalow - 2 small BR, no closets, a living room and a kitchen.. and a sweet and active 3 year old, an 80 pound lab, and if we are lucky hopefully another little sweet lovin from russia this year -- we need more space and rebuilding in the school district we are in just didn't make sense... we are praying to keep our cottage on the water, like many people in the area have beach homes... i am just praying it happens.. and LOVING what you are doing with your place and getting lots of ideas for my "someday rebuild" here on our river!!! (we have plans drawn up already and everything -- same choices as you in terms of TONS of windows and natural light)...
thanks for sharing in the joy of your re-model & family lifestyle move. there is NOTHING like living on water. you are going to LOVE IT!

Wow, the fireplace surround looks fabulous. If you are keeping the glass doors, think about taking them off to paint them black with high heat paint, then reinstalling them, they will look like new and be beautiful with that exceptional white surround.

Per Fireplace question...Yes, they sell it at Lowes or any home improvement store. It comes in a spray can and is called Rustoleum High Heat. It comes in several colors and is meant to be used for this purpose. Might I suggest that you also take the return vent cover off the wall, use your wall paint and a small brush and paint it the same color as your wall...it will disappear that way and not be a white 'thing' up on a beautiful blue wall.

Hi Kristine! Oh wow! That fireplace is absolutely gorgeous! I just love how the white pops against the brick. Your kitchen is looking great and I think your floors are wonderful even if they are unbuffed. :-) Everything is coming together so beautifully and it must be so exciting for you to see your vision coming to life!
