Outdoor Wednesday

Hello Ladies! and I am sure there are a few gentlemen out there as well...
We have just purchased this home and are remodeling it.  I would love your very talented ideas about the front and back yard.  We are in the Midwest so think about weather please when you give ideas for pots, flowers, trees and bushes...
I know there are some VERY talented outdoorsy people who participate in Outdoor Wednesday so PLEASE don't be shy...speak up and tell me what you think! The pictures can be found below.
Also, if you like doing interiors as well, please scroll down to the MLS photos and give me some ideas about the inside too!

K...I know NOTHING about Midwest zones for planting. I would recommend removing the fence though. I also think your house would look very nice with a darker roof; still painted white with black shutters and a Cardinal red front door. I would also possibly add some sort of front porch or portico to add depth to the front of the house. I'd remove all those existing shrubs and start over if it was me! :)

OK! I'm thinking a picket fence, with a scaloped wave to the top, and a gate in the center of the front of the lawn, with an arch with morning glories growing over it, and a stone pathway, ...have you seen the movie "Father of the bride"? That is what I'm picturing...keeping lawn for the kids, but making the appeal nicer from the street. Shutters painted, and planter boxes (homemade is much cheaper!)...under the windows, and a red door with two potted trees on either side of the door. Don't forget you can get creative with where the house number goes (above the door for example), and a nice wreath. have you ever made a living wreath? (ie. succulent wreath)! good luck!
